Many Thanks

Thanksgiving is such a cool holiday.  It really embodies what life should be about...having an attitude of gratitude.  We had a sweet time with family and our first Thanksgiving hosting the family, as in the past we've always travelled.  Five children on the road is really not my idea of fun, so I was thankful for celebrating in our new home.  My sister-in-law thought to bring the Thanksgiving place cards she had made for each of us in 2003 when she hosted.  She had thoughtfully printed personalized scriptures in each of our cards then that where amazingly prophetic reading them now.  We all shared what we were thankful for and even opened some gifts.  Thanksgiving gifts tend to be a really fun way to show loved ones that we're thankful for them.    Now what to do with all the left over turkey?!

We also spent some time riding ATVs to see the lay of the land without the leaves.  The area is so different without the thick lush foliage but allows us to see where we want to make new trails and capture some terrific views.   It also gave us a peek at the cement silo on our property and old homestead chimney.  Pretty neat historical evidence.  The changing seasons brings such character to the area and now we can't wait to see what the SNOW brings!

Also, the big holiday news is that our rooster Romeo is finally doing his rooster thing!  Yes, he's crowing and uh, well, you know...doing things that roosters are supposed to do.   So this is good for our hens AND for us as eggs are more nutritious fertilized plus we hope to have some baby chicks this spring!  Go Romeo!

The mild weathered weekend made for very pleasant outdoor ventures.  The kids especially loved taking the ATVs into the woods where they played by the spring, imagining all sorts of things.  Unfortunately, our Anna sliced her thumb pretty good while using the machete and it remains to be seen if super glue will hold it.  Poor girl.

Such a fantastic weekend and with so many things to be thankful for.  Here's hoping yours was equally as wonderful!
