You know you're in the country when...

Who said life in the country is backwards, sheltered, uncivilized?!  I've personally observed that country folk have just as much violence, progressiveness and culture as urbanites.  Don't believe me?  Then be enlightened by a collection of personal experiences of so far seven months of REeducation.  Just remember that different doesn't always mean wrong...broaden your mind, connect with your inner country spirit.  Then you too might discover that little secret piece of redneck just waiting to be birthed!

Here we go...

1.  Mouse traps become trendy fixtures of your home decor, especially in the fall!  (Yuck!!)

2.  Naming your tractor is something you just do...ie "Big Ugly",  "Gertie",  yadda yadda.

3.  Packing a water bottle just to trek to the mailbox isn't unreasonable in the summer.

4.  Wild pit bulls are fair game for target practice.

5.  Elderly men park in the middle of streets with shotguns pointed to the sky saying "just a shootin' them buzzards".

6.  Places like "Struttin' in the Ruts Mud Bog Racing" are notable landmarks in the neighborhood.

7.  You can hunt deer all while drinking a beer off your own deck!!

8.  Children are allowed to drive heavy equipment before owning a driver's license.

9.  Tieing a dead chicken around your dogs neck until it rots off is a suggested "good" punishment to ward off repeat attacks.  (This still amazes me!)

AND................

10.  While running in the neighborhood you can hear "Amazing Grace" being beautifully played on the piano from a house one minute, then hear "SHUT UP DAWG!!!!" from that same house the next.
