Blackberries EVERYWHERE!!

Oh my...We've been invaded by blackberries!  Yes, more blackberries than we can possibly pick.  The fence rows around the front and back of our property are where they grow best.  Along the trails up the mountain are where the red raspberries seem to flourish.  Needless-to-say, we're keeping quite busy with picking, freezing and finding fun recipes for them.  During the fall I usually make an apple crisp, so decided to use the same recipe for the blackberries, which tastes just as good...AND is easy and delicious!  Below is the recipe for all interested parties!

Lilly is our collector/picker who seems to thrive on gathering like things.  It's not unusual for me to find bunches of pine cones, rocks, sticks, flowers, beads, etc. stashed away in a purse somewhere.

After about 30 minutes of harvest by the kids...much snacking took place along the way too!

Blackberry Crisp

4 cups of blackberries fresh or frozen
1/3 cup of butter softened
1/2 cup of flour
1 cup of oats (quick or old fashioned)
3/4 cup of brown sugar packed
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Pour berries on bottom of glass dish.  Mix ingredients in bowl and pour over berries.  Heat until bubbly.  Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.  Homemade whipped cream is awesome!

Very yummy!!
