Graphic work has been something I've dappled with off and on for years. Ever since my dad bought me my first computer in sixth grade. Actually he bought everyone in the family one when Apple first came on the scene BIG. He also turned me onto Print Shop which I used constantly to make cards, banners, edit photos, etc. I loved graphic design then and probably could have made a career of it had exercise not won out. Anyhoo, the photo software over the years has improved which allows for so much more creativity. I'm not an expert nor would I even classify myself as "good" but enjoy the challenge of enhancing a not so good shot into one that looks semi professional...or maybe just a decent armature shot.
My goal with the photos was to experiment with design and not worry about how it looked SOOC (straight out of the camera). Obviously, since the photographer this time was my eight year old daughter! She did a great job though! She really has an eye for settings and actually told me where to stand on a few occasions offering insights on lighting, etc. Maybe SHE'LL end up being the graphics designer in the family!
Lighting was right on for this shot as well as the colors of the background. Not much needed for correction for exposure on this one. Slight vignette added for more framing and contrast.
The flash accidentally went off on this one which made for better face lighting with the hat casting some shadows.
Playing around with some black and white since the background had some leafless trees which were rather bland. Added a holga filter for burr and contrast.
Since it was around 3:00 the light is still high which caused some issues with shadows. Having me face directly into the sun helped especially with face shadows. Exposure and contrast had to be tweaked for this one. Added Orton filtering to give a bright colored but soft look. Sharpening happens in all photos.
This shot was slightly overexposed so after correction this softened the appearance. Adding some old texture and cross process filtering gave an older look.
Basically SOOC with auto correction added and white matte. Nothing else added. Nice to see a plain photo sometimes.
My Anna suggested this spot. Fun contrast with the colors of my clothes and the wall. A touch of dark vignette gives the contrast.
Increased the contrast here and reduced exposure for a fun black and white.
Not a great photo because of the suns position and having to look into it. This would have been better shot around 4:30 this time of year.
Anyway, it's fun to play around. Editing is my stronger suit as my picture taking capabilities have much to be developed. Thankfully, digital technology helps where I am weak!
