| Lilly wondering if we are going to "butcher" these fish too. |
This unseasonably warm winter brought a big surprise for Noah and his uncle...yup catching close to forty fish at Douglas Lake and thirteen big enough to bring home! Crappie (pronounced Croppie...but around here it's Crappie...nice huh?) is some of the best eatin' fresh water fish. Unfortunately, this year and last have been duds for catching enough for a large family to eat on...so bringing home thirteen was a huge success! We look forward to more successes this year on the boat as well as some fun salt water finds soon! Too bad we don't eat trout as there's been an abundance this year on fly fishing days. Just too bony and time consuming to clean.
Conveniently, Anna needing a "show and tell" for one of her co-op classes the next day rejoiced at the idea of showing off a severed crappie head. Hey, the rules state that you can't bring anything alive...so we interpreted decapitated fish as fair game. What? Wouldn't you?
I suppose us country folk need to join civilization soon before we loose all sense of decency!
