Lilly and the Connemaras

A beautiful Connemara pony mugging for the camera while I capture a few of Lilly taking her riding lessons.  Very friendly and not at all fearful of my presence.  Lilly loves "horsies" as she affectionately calls horses and ponies and learning all the skills appropriate for their care and riding techniques.

"Delta" is the primary pony used for lessons.  I tried to get as close as possible without disturbing Lilly or the horse, really pushing the telephoto lens to the limit.

Solo riding and trotting!  The instructor had Lilly playing games, dropping a ball into a bucket while riding to earn "trot time".  We hope that Lilly will eventually be able to go to shows, but for now she's learning all she can and spends time just enjoying the ponies.  Our barn is outfitted for horses and once she's much older and can care for them appropriately, then we may consider one.

Not even six and is a natural with the breed already.  She takes control of the reigns and is able to command Delta (who is also very compliant).  What I appreciate about the instructor besides her patience is that she also uses holistic practices with her animals.

Alright mom, enough!

Fantastic creatures and perfect subjects for a little photo fun too!
