Sea Biscuit Rises again...

Oh the irony....

Our horse loving child cracked the epiphyseal plate of her upper tibia during a fall on the trampoline...(not OFF the trampoline mind you).  Since the injury is on a growth plate it requires a bit more attention.  Course this means no "horsie" lessons for 6-8 weeks unless it heals sooner.  Which we're pushing!

After watching the movie Sea Biscuit, which portrays a horse rider who also breaks a leg, Lilly decides to get in some mental practice.  No injury is going to keep her from at least practicing her equestrian sport. Interestingly, while we were at the hospital waiting to be seen, guess what was on the waiting room TV?  Horse jumping of course! Just for Lilly to help take her mind off the pain.

To aid in faster healing, we are having her drink LOTS of raw milk and supplementing with extra vitamin D.  Adding a little extra vitamin C for collagen building and having her "exercise" as much as possible.  She scoots around everywhere using her other leg.  This has a cross-education effect on muscle fibers in the broken leg to stimulate bone production.  The body is a pretty cool thing.
