Visit

Enjoyed such a great two week visit with my mother!  Having her around was a little like vacation and having both a maid and nanny.  I think after killing ourselves with cleaning and decorating we've discovered that a regular house keeper just might be the ticket.  You see, I'm either the teacher or the housekeeper but don't do good doing both well.  The younger kiddos just are not decent contributing members of the household and for the level of tidiness that my husband and I prefer.  So for this season of life...I think I'll grant myself this guilty pleasure occasionally.

Besides running around like crazy ladies we did enjoy a few leisure moments.  My moms husband flew in on his little Cessna and spent a few days with us also.  Course we put HIM to work.  Sorry JL!  No wonder he left so soon.  Had fun watching him taking off at the little airport down our road.  I ranted awhile ago in a post regarding my disdain for the commercial airline industry and all it's bureaucratic tape.  Purely repulsive and motivation for me never to fly any time soon.  However, owning an aircraft or chartering private flights just might be the wave of future air travel for THIS family.

Waiting to say good-bye during aircraft check.

No waiting in line, no subjection to humiliating pat downs or 3-D naked body scans, no delays or crowded seats, no paranoid security at these little airports.  JL simply checked his fuel, loaded his gear and was off!

Very peaceful....

He had hoped to fly us around, but the weather just wouldn't cooperate.  Even had to schedule his departure flight between storms!

Usually an eight hour drive took three hours of flying from start to finish.  Flying commercial tacks on additional hours of travel for early check-ins, delays, baggage claim and drive time.

It's past time for airline reform!
