Every city seems to have its claim to fame or at the least something that puts it on the map. In our area the industry is Eastman Chemical. If you want to make something of yourself career wise, generally "The Eastman" is where it's at offering a wide range of employment opportunities.
Every year various schools are drawn for National Chemistry week to visit Eastman for a day of educational fun. This year our home school coop was picked and Anna's fourth grade class went. She took chemistry last year and really enjoyed much of it...especially the experiments. This was putting the book knowledge with the practical... an important aspect to see with something as abstract as chemistry.
Program was very well done. Just wish we could have seen Aunt Karen who works in chemistry. Yes, doing experiments daily!! :)
