Aside from debt challenges, we have had to become pretty creative in our accommodations for children and their spaces. We currently have three girls sharing a room and our two boys will share the other. So far it works nicely...while still small, however as the two oldest grow I've had to adjust to their needs to have their own space and privacy. Our oldest daughter has grown increasingly more sensitive to having alone time. She also has expressed frustration of little ones always getting into her personal things and messing things up. So to remedy some of this issue we created a space underneath her loft bed, a sort of cubby or hide out so that she could display her things without the threat of them being rummaged through. So far it works well! Here is what we came up with:

A long shear and spring rod create a privacy curtain. She can open and close the curtain like a door. We have her desk, dresser, lava lamp and containers for her personal items inside.

The other two girls have places on their beds for keeping special toys, etc. These are all temporary fixes to growing needs. Eventually, they will need a bigger room and definitely more closet space, but for now it suffices and they are content.
